How do you find a novel idea for Fathers Day that won’t be either heaving at the seams or ridiculously over-priced?
Well, it’s a rare Dad who doesn’t enjoy the beauty of the river.
Here’s a few ideas for recommended local venues where you can gather with all the family and enjoy a good bit of banter over fabulous food, a few beers or a bottle of wine.
To make it extra special, you could take a relaxing river cruise to one of the scenic destinations in Richmond, Kingston or Hampton Court where you will find plenty of great British pubs or cosmopolitan restaurants to try.
There will also be a 30 minute mini cruise running on 17 June from Hampton Court to Thames Ditton island and back, in Jeff – our Dunkirk Little Ship.
Hearty pub lunches overlooking the river
If it’s a hearty pub lunch that your Dad loves, then the White Cross in Richmond, or the Boaters Inn in Kingston are where you can tuck in to a good Sunday Roast whilst overlooking the river. The Boaters also has a BBQ kitchen & terrace.
The Kings Arms next to Hampton Court Palace is a 5 minute delightful stroll from the river. It has an old English style bar and serves great lunchtime food. Being right next door to the Palace, you can go for a relaxing stroll in the gardens afterwards. Across the road you will find the more contemporary Mute Swan.
Stylish restaurants with stunning views
River cruises will be running all day on Sunday between Kingston, Richmond and Hampton Court.
You could take a return river trip, or just a one way trip and enjoy a leisurely stroll back along the scenic Thames towpath.
